- Files Included:
-
- 1. Reponer 0.28 Docs - This file. - Written using 9 point Monaco.
-
- 2. Reponer 0.28 - The application. Do not rename.
-
- 3. Make Paragraphs - A sample replacement set, described below.
-
-
-
- Brief History:
-
- Reponer 0.28 performs rapid global replacement and/or deletion of targeted
- characters in TEXT files. It is loosely based on the replace function in
- Add/Strip 2.12, another of my programs. However, this program allows access to
- all 256 characters (including carriage returns) and lines are NOT limited to
- 256 characters in length. Up to 9 sets may be active.
-
- Replacement characters are entered as sets (target and replace). Characters
- may be entered via the keyboard or clipboard as normal characters, or in #ASCII
- format (“Jon” could be “#74#111#110” or “Jo#110”). If only target characters
- are given (the second text box in the set is blank) all EXACT matches will be
- deleted from the file. Replace sets are processed sequentially. Set 1 is
- first; 9 is last. Sets may be saved between sessions.
-
-
-
- Changes for 0.28:
-
- 1) Sets may be saved between sessions. When a set is loaded or saved, that
- set's name is remembered (during that session) for the next save.
-
- 2) The first 10k bytes of a TEXT file may be browsed, displaying carriage
- return, linefeeds, and tabs as special characters. These characters are
- stored as STR# resources and may be changed using Resedit.
-
- 3) Typing 'o' or '0' no longer selects the OK button on the Get TEXT file
- window unless the command key is down.
-
- 4) Adjusted centering of file dialogs for large screens.
-
- 5) Added icons for Reponer and replacement sets.
-
-
-
- One Use:
-
- It is possible to use Reponer to "Make paragraphs" in a fashion similar to that
- used in Add/Strip 2.12, PROVIDED that each line which will be the last line of
- the paragraph is followed by AT LEAST 2 carriage returns. Here's how:
-
- 1) Set Change string #1 to "#13#13" (without the quotes) and the To string to
- "[]" (no quotes). The To string can be any unique string.
-
- 2) Set Change string #2 to "#13" (no quotes) and the To string to " " (1
- space, no quotes)
-
- 3) Set Change string #3 to "[]" (no quotes) and the To string to "#13#13" (no
- quotes). The To string should match your unique string from the #1 To string.
-
- 4) Set Change string #4 to "#13 " (1 space, no quotes) and the To string to
- "#13" (no quotes).
-
- This is kind of crude, but it *should* work. You could also search/replace
- other strings in the same pass. Just be sure to keep the above sets in the
- given order.
-
-
-
- Disclaimer:
-
- Reponer works pretty well on my computer. I cannot (and do not) guarantee that
- it will on yours. It *is* possible to force a bomb with some replacement sets.
- I'm still not sure why...
